Things to do in your Garden in November

 

 

Still a lot to be done!

 

Tip of the month

 

Old tights make fantastic plant ties

 

Flowers

 

Plant the last of your bulbs for a spring display

 

Prune roses

 

Plant out winter bedding

 

Cut back ornamental grasses and bamboos

 

Still lift and divide herbaceous plants

 

Dig new flower borders

 

Plant pots with heathers and ivy for colour over the winter

 

Vegetable / Fruit Garden

 

Plant out your garlic bulbs

 

Harvest winter cabbages and cauliflowers

 

If the weather goes really cold cover your parsnips up so you will be able to harvest them

 

Sow broad beans for an early crop next year 

 

Net your brassicas to prevent pigeons eating them

 

Plant new raspberry, blackberries etc canes

 

Prune apple and pear trees

 

Wrap grease bands round fruit trees

 

General

 

Read the Societies seed catalogues to decide what you will grow next year

 

Clear leaves from lawns and ponds

 

Don't forget to feed the birds

 

Wash bird feeders

 

Prepare a raised bed to take the bending out of gardening

 

Check bonfires before lighting to make sure there aren't any Hedgehogs 

 

 

Now you can sit and put your feet up with a nice cup of tea to warm you up!!!
