Upton by Chester Horticultural Society

Your friendly Gardening Club

Upton Horticultural Society was first formed in 1946 by a small group of like-minded people who share the love of gardening and horticulture.

Since then the membership has grown to over 150 with new members joining all the time. Your membership includes lots of different things.

Free entry to most our monthly meetings held at 7.30pm on the first Wednesday of the month in the Village Hall (February to May and September to November). We have a wide variety of guest speakers & table top competitions. Our December meetings are normally a bit special, open to members by ticket only and with a charge as they include light refreshments.

There is the opportunity to enter exhibits in three shows every year - The Spring Show in March, the Summer Show in August and the Autumn Show in October. We are very keen to encourage entries from all our members. There are special classes for novice entrants and help is on hand from “Old hands” who will gladly advise or assist you in entering your exhibits.

There is the opportunity to discuss your gardening problems, queries and successes with other gardening people.

To learn more about the ‘world of gardening’ in the talks or chatting to other members – share our knowledge.

There is the chance to get great bargains at our plant sale held at the Village Hall in May each year.

We also organise various trips during the year. One is usually to an RHS garden and the others are to more local open gardens.

We get special discounts with local nurseries on presentation of membership card – Okell’s and Premier Plants.
