Your society needs you

We are very fortunate to have such an enthusiastic, hard working committee but we do need help in many ways. If you are able to come along earlier to help set up, sell raffle tickets, or tidy away after meetings or shows your help would be greatly appreciated.

We look forward to seeing you at our future meetings

Best Wishes

Meetings

Our meeting on Wednesday 6th March, we have Tracy Snell, Garden Manager of RHS Bridgewater telling us all about the making of the Royal Horticultural Society’s fifth public display garden. As a landscape architect, Tracy has brought her knowledge and skill into transforming this 154-acre estate, the largest gardening project undertaken in Europe. The competition for this month is ‘A pot of Spring Bulbs’.

There will be a seed swap at these meetings, so if you have any spare seeds, please bring them along. In preparation for our plant sale at our May meeting, if you are splitting any plants over the next few weeks, we would very much appreciate you potting up a cutting to bring along in May.

Spring Show

The Spring Show is on Saturday 23rd March with staging from 8am to 10:45am. Entries need to be received by Wednesday 20th March to Helen Gardiner or Susan Reading.  The schedule is available on our website. If you have not entered before, do have a go, there are stewards on hand to help with staging and any queries you may have. Last year we had several members entering exhibits for the first time, and they all said how much fun it was. Our judges are delighted and complimentary that we have our seasonal shows. The hall always looks fabulous when set out with all your beautiful exhibits.

Trips

As yet the committee are deciding on trips for this year. The committee have discussed a possible visit to Gardeners World Live at Birmingham NEC in June, this would be dependant on cost and member interest.  Similar to last year we plan a trip to a more local garden and nursery within easy travelling distance. If you have any ideas about a garden trip, please see one of the committee, we are always pleased to hear your suggestions.
